One of best ways to make sure any species will continue to survive is to protect its spawning habitat. ERDG, the only non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the world's four remaining horseshoe crab species, has established a community-based Horseshoe Crab Sanctuary program.

The program encourages residents of coastal communities to protect horseshoe crab spawning habitat found in their area..

Using interviews with Delaware Bayshore residents, ERDG representatives, and elected officials, this video profiles the horseshoe crab, explains the benefits of establishing a sanctuary, and provides an overview of the process of establishing a protected sanctuary habitat.

Produced for the Ecological Resource and Development Group (ERDG).

Funded by ERDG and The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.
